Who is the Grammar for Practitioners textbook aimed at ?
Z Grammar for practitioners can be used by participants of language courses, independent learners of Polish who are looking for additional or repetition materials, as well as teachers of Polish as a foreign language who conduct courses at levels A1, A2, B1. More advanced students will find plenty of material for repetition and consolidation of basic skills, while teachers will find valuable help in organizing grammatical knowledge and increasing teaching effectiveness.
Graphic distinction of three proficiency levels (red for level A1, yellow for A2 and green for B1) makes it easy to orient oneself in the layout of the book and allows to quickly find the appropriate exercises. Each chapter consists of a theoretical and practical section. The theory, conveyed in a clear manner – from general information to detailed information – will be of interest mainly to lecturers, although the news from this part will also be useful to students interested in grammar in more depth or preparing for certificate exams.
What does the third volume of Grammar for the Practitioner contain?
In the third volume of Grammar for the Practitioner, students will find exercises that will facilitate the construction of more complex oral and written statements and help them acquire syntactic structures, which is not easy in Polish due to the loose sentence formation. The exercises, divided into subsections according to communicative situations, are arranged in the manual in order from easier to more difficult – from schematic automatic exercises to more complex ones: contrasting and integrating several skills. Their starting point is always syntax.
While in the first two volumes the focus was on individual grammatical issues, the third part of Grammar focuses precisely on syntax – it tries to familiarize students with the natural way of communication and encourage them to create elaborate statements on their own. Several things are practiced simultaneously already in some chapters at the A1 level. They are then listed in the title so that teachers and students can more easily find out whether a chapter is at the right level and meets their communication needs. The book also has no shortage of exercises of a sociocultural nature, reminding students of Polish customs, tourist attractions, famous figures of culture, science and history, among others.
Repetition exercises from the section entitled Do you remember?
They test the ability to use the grammatical structures discussed earlier. The Key facilitates independent work and self-monitoring, and the Index of Grammar Terms, in Polish, English, German, Ukrainian, Russian and Chinese, complements the theoretical part and allows you to understand it better. The Thematic Catalog, in turn, makes it possible to select from different chapters exercises devoted to the same lexical topic.
